APWL Coaching Philosophy
Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) aims to make lacrosse a positive, character-building experience for every athlete and to improve the experience for officials, coaches, parents and fans. Through workshops and online courses, PCA has impacted more than four million youth. PCA’s partnership network includes more than 1,700 youth sports organizations, cities and schools.
Parent CoachesAs parents, we require a helping hand. You are a "coach" for one or more practices. Your only requirement is to throw the ball to the kids. That's it. You do not need to be an expert ball thrower, it's all about kids getting reps.

Practice PhilosophyWe call it "touches", some call it reps. The more the players have an opportunity to use the stick and a ball, the better they will get. The players are broken down into groups of 5 or 6. There can be up to 6 nets with painted crease and lines to provide continuity to practice. We build drills and expand the requirements in 12 minute segments. You will see the building blocks each practice.

Game PhilosophyWinning is great, but there is always a better team. What makes a team great? When a player decides on their own to practice. We believe if we can instill a desire to practice, there will always be wins. If the player can have the mindset of being the best they can be at anything, then they know they are winners.
